Rally Planned at Dorie's House
As SWYES continues to seek operational funding from the provincial government, a rally is scheduled for 12noon on Wednesday. Tom Westbury, the lead contractor in the construction of the home is organizing the rally and encourages supporters of Dorie's House to participate and show the province that Southwest Youth matter. Dorie's House opened in August of 2016 and after offering shelter to hundreds of youth, it was forced to close its' doors in late 2017 due to a lack of finances.
Tom Westbury hopes the province will reconsider its decision to not allot any funding for Dorie's House in Swift Current. The youth shelter requires $350,000 in operational funding per year.
