Representatives of the Cypress Health Region met with local MLA Wayne Elhard and Municipal leaders from Shaunavon, Eastend and Frontier on Friday. Discussions surrounded finding a solution to the ongoing disruptions in healthcare service at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre which stem from the inability to secure consistent physician and registered nursing staff. The Cypress Health Region notes that locum assistance will continue to help with maintaining consistent physician on-call availability in the short term until a permanent Physician is hired. Also a Physician from within the region has offered his assistance starting in June, but until then there will be some Physician on-call disruptions that occur during the month of May. A second meeting is planned in mid May by all parties.
