07/17/2017 - The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is indicating most crops across the province are developing normally for this time of the year. 56 percent of fall cereals, 64 percent of spring cereals, 62 percent of oil seeds and 75 percent of pulse crops are at their normal stages of development for this time of year. Crop conditions vary greatly across the province and have deteriorated over the past few weeks due to hot temperatures and a lack of rain. Haying season is progressing with 24 percent of the hay crop cut and 39 percent baled or put into silage. Hay yields are significantly smaller than normal and pasture growth has been limited.
