08/07/2012 - Saturday marked a historic day at Grasslands National Park with the grand opening of the Frenchman River Valley Campground and Walker Land Aquisition. The new campground features a total of 24 campsites, including 20 sites suitable for tent and RV camping (four of which include electrical hook-ups) and four walk-in sites (two of which feature tipi-style accommodation available for rent). New facilities, complete with a cook shelter, potable water stations and modern pit toilets, provide visitors with increased comfort and safety while exploring the Park. The shelter was designed to be an icon in the Park, while also reflecting the character of the place.
